Hi,
Sometimes, when I put my Macbook to sleep, it won't wake up. When I go to wake it up, t's very warm, and something is running. So I have to force quit and restart. A friend told me to not put the lid down, just let it go to sleep on its own. But it wouldn't wake up again. What is going on? I can't imagine having my computer get that warm is good. |

Hmmm.... Sounds odd... What type of MacBook is it? How old? Is it still in warranty?
Check your Energy Saver preferences... Letting the Display sleep can sometimes make you think the computer is asleep, but it isnt. Make sure you use settings such as: (These are what mine are at): Power Cord: Display Sleep: 7 Minutes Computer Sleep 15 Minutes Battery: Display Sleep: 2 Minutes Computer Sleep 5 Minutes Closing the lid automatically puts the computer to sleep. Other Suggestions: -Turn off all Energy Saver preferences, re-start your computer then put them all back to how you want them -Close any data-intensitive programs such as MS Word, iTunes, iLife etc before standby -Turn off any Schedules (Shut Down, Sleep etc) -Or in a last ditch effort, do an Archive & Install -Or take it to an Apple dealer.

What exactly, on the occasions it won't wake up, have you been doing on the Mac before you sleep it? |

It's a MacBook Pro (the aluminum one), runs OS X 10.5.5.
I sense that it won't wake up after I've been streaming video or audio, and it feels warm before I put it to sleep. When I go to wake it up, it feels like something has been running the whole time. Thanks! John |

I'd say that'd e what it is then
Today I had to install iLife on my computer... My computer had gotten rather warm and then after it'd had finished I had put it in standbye. When I woke it up, it was still fairly warm... This is because the internal cooling system (ie the fans) haven't had a long enough period of time to cool the computer, when it's on standbye, the CPU I still used slightly so it doesn't get cooled and stays warm, which would explain why it's hot waking up... Ive noticed if I've let it cool itself to about 57 degrees celcius (usually the default and is what the CPU works best at) then I close the lid to come back and find it's at about 47 degrees

Firstly update to 10.5.8 as this might address the issue. You should always keep your OS to the most recent version of the one you are running.
Are you running any iStat widgets? I've seen that these caused an issue around the time 10.5.2 was out, if so try updating any of those and see if that has any effects. |
