![]() Just had to share this one, it came out so well. If you go to the flickr link here and scroll around to check out the original size, it is really cool. The detail in the hair fibers and pollen is amazing.

That fixed it.
Just curious ... why did you shoot at 1600 ISO? When the photo is viewed at full size, there's more noise than I would expect for a D300.

It was an overcast morning, with the aperture stopped down so my depth of field wouldn't be too shallow. With macro, it is easy to get too shallow a depth of field and have essentially just a 1/4 inch plane in focus. Which leaves a lot of the bee, not to mention the flower quickly out of focus. Shallow DOF works fine if I am just taking a shot of the flower from above, then most of the subject lies within the same shallow plane. Additionally, with the "action" and movement of the bee, I wanted a relatively high shutter speed of 1/500 sec to keep the subject free of motion blur. So that combination got the ISO higher. I could've used flash, but when possible, I prefer the tradeoff of natural light. I personally don't find the image contains much noise, especially when viewed in large. This image was a crop of about 70% of the original frame for composition. Remember, the way the image is displayed in "original" would make the print close to 3 feet wide. Unfortunately, I captured the image as JPEG, which starts to look grainy and more noisy at that much of a "zoom".
