I have always had good luck with iphoto. Recently I did something that I think corrupted my pix, don't know what exactly. In some albums, I can see a thumbnail and when I go to open it a big black screen with a large exclamation pt. shows up. I looked at the info of the file and it looks normal. I tried to open them in photoshop, but they won't open. Other pix in the same album do not show up as thumbnails, yet they open full size. Does anyone know what I did and if it is repairable? Help! Thanks.

Based on what you are describing, it would seem that they're corrupted. Try using the "Photos > Revert to Original" command. If only the edited version are corrupted, you might be able to recover the original versions.

OMG, you are my hero! Thank you, that was so simple, I can't believe it. I asked a whole bunch of Mac people and no one knew how to fix them.

So I'm, assuming that worked? Just to be safe in the future, always backup.
